Having purchased this new house, our clients wished to create multiple areas for entertaining and relaxing.  They had also purchased an area of sloping woodland beyond their rear boundary, so the designer linked this into the main garden by providing a cantilevered deck area, extending beyond the fence line.

The remainder of the garden was split into two distinct parts.  To the west, a large sunken dining area and built-in kitchen, with surrounding paths and planting, linked to the cantilevered deck.  To the east a summerhouse and gym building was erected, with a ‘secret’ garden beyond.  This consisted of a raised boardwalk, extensive planting and a water feature.

Cream sawn sandstone was chosen to give a light and modern feel to the paved areas.  Step treads and copings were cut and bullnosed on site.

Lighting was provided throughout, with step lights in the step risers, up-lights to the trees and spike lights throughout the planting.
