Home > Garden Projects > Koi Pond and Water Feature in Handcross
Our clients were seeking to construct a new home for their growing collection of koi carp. The level lawn, and sloping ground around it, provided the perfect opportunity to include a multi-layer water feature, feeding a large main pond, and allowed the filtration system to be hidden within mature planting nearby.
The lower pond is 9m square and 1.8m deep, providing plenty of space for the fish to reach their natural size. A series of stepping stones allow access to the centre of the pond for viewing and feeding the fish.
All ponds are fibreglass lined, with sandstone coping and cladding, and the whole feature is lit at night.
Filtration consists of an in-ground settlement chamber, drum and media filters plus UV clarification.
