This modern detached house is set on the edge of the South Downs National Park.

Although the house had been substantially extended, the outside entertaining areas remained limited.  Our clients wished to extend these and, most importantly for their young family, add a swimming pool and sun terrace.

The design required paved terraces on two levels, with the level change being retained by a new planter and steps.

Cream sandstone paving was chosen to give a light and modern feel to the new terraces.  The same stone was used to clad the planters and step risers, with bull-nosing of all exposed edges, including the pool copings, undertaken on site.

An intimate dining area was created at the upper level by including 4 table-top trees set into the paving.  Further planting was provided in the raised planters and around the pool terrace perimeter.

Lighting was provided throughout, with step lights in the step risers, up-lights to the trees and spike lights throughout the planting.
